Coastline charlie

It's hard for me to remember back but I think they named me Charlie Black
The doctor said I'd die but I lived somehow
Now I've changed my name but not my luck the Black is gone but Charlie's stuck
Coastline Charlie is what they call me now

I was hatched in Tennessee but that didn't mean a thing to me
Soon as I could walk I aimed it south
I thumb my way to New Orleans to try my luck with the Cajun queens

Coastline Charlie is my name at least that's how they pegged me
And I wouldn't change it back again even if the good Lord begged me
The only place I can be found is on the courtin' side of a Portland town
