Band of beards

So glad we met

Band of beards
I wrote some words
About a girl I met when I was sixteen
She don't mean all the much to me these days
Still I keep memories inside my head, inside my heart
I take them with me
I leave her all alone
To her own devices
Cigarettes and alcohol
And books about lost boys and broken girls
Who love to lose themselves to their desperate vices
And skip town when things get too bad

And if I saw her now
Don't think I'd recognize her face - only her voice
It's been so long and we both have grown
I never kept and pictures of us
But some things never change

Sometimes you are
Such a sweet reminder
Of good things still
Left to be discovered
If we only meant one thing we said
"...so glad we met."
