Broken clown

A new piece

Broken clown
Heard you talking on the phone yesterday
But its hard to listen when I've got nothing to say
Heard a reference to the cold and the rain
I kept on watching the T.V. as you jabbered away
Into one ear and out the next I heard you tell me about your cat
I want a plastic Jesus with rainbow eyes to stare at me through sleepless nights
Heard you talking...

I'm always staring at the window or pasting flowers on the wall
While my days staring at the window
Staring myself away from it all

Heard you walking in you comfortable shoes
And you were always bitching how there was nothing to do
Saw your boredom manifest in the park
Garbage fires on stone altars that would light up the sky

Off of one foot and on the next
I saw you walking into my past
Sing a pretty song of me on cold summer nights
As my eyes glaze over as I turn out the lights
Heard you walking...

I'm always staring out the window
Gnashing my teeth and looking pale
While my days staring out the window
I dream catatonic 'cause it's free

Stop looking at me
I can swing from the trees
I can liberate me
Can't you see that the tension is killing me

Found myself stalking on a cold summer night
Looking for a place I could quietly go and blow my mind
Then it occured then like a fish in a dream
That objects in the mirror are sometimes closer than what they appear
Where did you go when the sun set?
Where did you go when you killed the bird?
Why did you spoil the sunlight?
Where do you go when the dream ends sharp?
Off of one life and on the next repressing emotion in frozen sweat
Sack of solace by my bedside at night
In case I awake to the cold thought of knives
Or the sound of you talking...
