Brown bird

Weathering

Brown bird
There's a fundamental flow
Made of truths known and unknown
Made of lies both petty and profound
It provides a sense of place
A state of pain, a state of grace
And I've got one foot planted firmly on each ground

Though I've sown my seeds sincerely
Since you came into my life
I do fear past indiscretions have come around
Like this predicament we're in's
A kind of karma for my sins
Intwined with testimony to the love I've found

There are land mines buried in the road to our home
Of fear and loathing, self pity and stone
Though our steps be guided by a force unknown
May our will still weather on

When we are broken we are born
A sailor weathering a storm
A thirsty seed soaked in the aftermath of floods
A few more scars from facing fate
A racehorse entering the gate
A little wiser about the course we've got to run

And when the storm it does subside
This flood of roller coaster rides
We'll lick the wounds and learn to live with this new blood
And on the other side of tears
We'll build our strength and face our fears
And hit the ground running the race that's yet to come

There are land mines buried in the road to our home
Of fear and loathing, self pity and stone
Though our steps be guided by a force unknown
May our will still weather on
