A deadside vigil
Conquer by supremacyIn the bowels of the forest
I lay, face down
Frigid waters stroke my skinless face
Rope burned limbs piled upon the shore
As the trees grow old
The rivers churn
The mountains observe the ages
But the embers still burn
'Til my organs are ashes
And my bare bones dust
Here I will be
Until eternity
I see myself
Stones embedded int my back
Fingers gone with the force of the struggle
Empty sockets pooled with dew
Reflecting a river
That has run red too many times
I understand there is no waking
This ravaged shell I once controlled
But my naked flesh does not chill
No goosebumps erect on this lifeless frame
I am still
And will forever more
Facing myself now
Is a face beyond recognition
A body that daily gets closer
To rejoining the land that lost it
Don't dwell on the tides
That recede into nothing
Eternal nocturnal the solution it be
Night after nightfall
I remain besides my own remains
Mourning my own life
I stay by my side
I stay loyal even after the end
I will stay
And watch my own decomposition
As devastating, and intruiging
As it is
