Wells
Dead hillsKnowledge forgotten over time
The world around us grew dead
As we drowned in the wells
We died there on those slopes
In the foothills so vast
The trees around us grew pale
And still we drowned
We found our heaven underground
Roots twisting in a path to catharsis
Strangling us and choking us
And we became the water
The light that blinded was finally killed
The light that burnt us was destroyed
Why must we dwell here
Amongst our own smoking ruins?
These walls are full of longing and remorse
Why won't they break?
To be under here forever
Is to gain eternal life
But yet still we are blinded
And still we are drowned
Is there no hope in these wells?
It is always so dark down here
I want to see the light again
But there is no hope in these wells
Drawing from deep within the earth
Knowledge forgotten over time
The world around us grew dead
As we drowned in the wells
We died there on those slopes
In the foothills so vast
The trees around us grew pale
And still we drowned
