Destroy all robots

Return to the dust

Destroy all robots
as the canon booms in the distance
does it make you feel odd,
when we're all scraping together pieces
to make own versions of God?
we walk tall in our new gentleman's club
with the few who are left,
who say we love each other
yet we're still sewing in death.
but who will govern life
and mind the properties of colour and light?
I misrepresent Your sovereign depiction
with my feebly fastened grasping for diction.
so here we go, stop, go, 1, 2, 3,
dotted red lines through history
make me wonder where we're marching on.

chorus
for there is nothing in Your world
that will ever satisfy.
i know i will return to the dust of the earth.

is religion just a business
with CEOs and stockholders?
oh, we're thankful for salvation
(as it's just dirt off our shoulders).
still we just spin and sway like misguided darts -
missing but striking, crying,
"please Lord take my heart, and let it be Thine,
though I'm getting drunk off communion wine".
coloured, numbered, marking most emphatically -
"merchandaising church is most pleasing to Thee."
see, that's the way we view our Christianity
a marriage of our morals to a "suggested" theme.
is it any wonder we are so empty?

chorus

bridge
i'm aware it might sound fake, it might sound lame.
but more than plastic wires support my fragile frame.
it's the greatest love that man has ever known.
no i mean the only love that man has ever known.
the answers lie only where the dead have gone.
our salvations were free all along.

bridge 2
for there is nothing in Your world that will ever satisfy...
are you aching and striving to shake off the mould?
the church is in you, and you're in the world.
be not conformed to the doctrines of man.
in the body of Christ, we represent His hands.
i know i will return to the dust of the earth.
