Enthring

Caverns

Enthring
I find the stairs leading into the mountain
I walked the stone stairs many nights and days
With no light, with no guide
Infinite steps echo along the cavernwalls

Still i'm getting down
With no food, with no drink
Starting to regret my thoughts of hope
And suddenly the stairs end.

Down there is a silver lake
In the light of that lake i can see again
The sight is eerily beautiful
In the lake is something attracting
I can't stop staring at it
It is feeding me
It gives me the joys i need

The reflexion whispers promises
It lures me to give myself for it
I fight back, but my mind gives up
I can feel no warmth of the sun on my skin
Nor frost in my bones anymore
No wind nor rain
I can see no dawn nor moon gleam
I can hear no birds singing nor smell the woods
But i don't care, i have met my god.

I found the path leading out of the mountain
I walked through these caves many nights and days
With no stars as my guide
Infinite cry echoed along the cavernwalls
Still i am getting beyond
The murky halls of this netherworld
Envenoming my thoughts of hope
And suddenly my blindness ends

I can feel no warmth of the sun on my skin
Nor frost in my bones anymore
No wind nor rain, i can see no dawn nor moon gleam
I can hear no birds singing or smell the woods
But i don't care, i am my god.
