Garden

North

Garden
I've grown tired of summer sunlight, unaccompanied by the waves
And I regress on moonlit pathways, under cover of the rain
But if the wind should blow this far, I may let it carry me for a time
Somewhere Else, the tide is waiting, but the child awaits a sign

I held the winter for so long, long after she had gone
And yet long before the trials had ended
I've felt her many times since then, now cold against my skin
And I may groan, but I'm not grown.

I don't regret my ill-considered steps.
How then was I to know that they would leave me longing now?
I lay to rest my patience with this game. I feel a wind of change.

Time marches on, am I left behind by my fears?
I'm powerless to change, and nothing else stays the same.
Before they're all gone, is it so much to ask for time to stop?

All move South, seeking sun amidst the rain, from above a clouded sky.
All depart, moving further everyday.
Here I'll stay and Northward I will face.

I sought my saviour far from home, and swore I heard her call my name,
But no siren stirred upon the shoreline.
Far from her sainthood, I remain waiting for the dawn that never comes.

Save my mind from the memory.
Keep its unspoiled image from my spiteful eyes.
Save the memory from my mind.
Keep its unspoiled image from my spiteful scribe.
