Lonely road
Jem warrenOf this dusty road i’ve travelled on for far too many miles.
‘cause my tank is low, my wheels are worn, i’ve lost the will to drive,
So i pull my keys, get on my feet and look to hitch a ride.
Cause it’s been a long, long, long lonely road
Behind the wheel of this cage of steel,
That has long since held my soul.
It’s been a long, long, long lonely road.
With no one by my side while i blindly try
To find my way back home.
And now you’ve been stranded on this island, formed by volcanoes of despair,
Since you crossed the sea while you breathed in heartbreaks salty air.
So you bottle up a note with hopes it one day will be read.
When it washed ashore out it poured and this is what it said…
It said please, please, please feed my soul,
‘cause i’m served plenty of attention but no one can hold my own.
Won’t you please, please, please, please feed my soul,
‘cause i’ve starving for affection that could fill me up and satisfy and leave me feeling whole.
And now you’ve made your way since your great escape since you crossed the ocean blue.
And the trail i blazed for countless days has lead me straight to you.
I had given up on finding love, i exhausted all my faith,
But when your eyes met mine a voice inside said lord i have been saved!
It’s the end of this long and lonely road,
‘cause we’re there for one another as our destinies unfold.
It’s the end of this long and lonely road,
‘cause now we’ve got each other’s arms to comfort and to hold,
To warm away the cold.
So never let me go
Back down that lonely road.
