Jesse labelle

No astronaut

Jesse labelle
There's a place by the tree in the park down the street
where the rain always wanted to fall
and a lot of old streets that I used to believe
kept the world all around me so small

And this place I call home, but now home feels alone
and I'm left to face my darkest fear
that it won't be a dream when tomorrow I wake
and I find that you're no where 'round here

And I can't stand the way that these walls look at me
as I sit here and play my guitar
All the songs are the same, they just ramble and stray
yeah, nothing quite seems up to par

Cause it isn't much fun when I can't see the sun
that you watch as it sets on the sea
because I'm no astronaut, but you know what I've got
and I hope it brings you home to me

In this place I call home, but now home feels alone
and I can't get you off my mind
and it feels like so long ever since you've been gone
and you left this big city behind

And I know you'll return, but right now it still burns,
and I need you to rain down on me
So I'll just close my eyes and I'll wish you goodnight,
as these dreams bring you closer to me
