Wild colonial boy
Lazy harryOf poor but honest parents, he was borns in Castlemaine
He was his father's only hope and his mother's pride and joy
And dearly did his parent love their Wild Colonial Boy
In May of 1841 left his native home
All over Victoria's sountryside a bushranger to roam
He stuck up the Beechworth mailcoach and robbed Judge McEvoy
Who Trembled and gave up his gold to the Wild Colonial Boy
One day as he was riding yhe coutryside along
Listening to the kookaburra's happy laughing song
He spied three mounted troopers Kelly David and Fitzroy
With a warrant fot the capture of the Wil Colonial Boy
Surrender now Jack Doolan, can't you see there's three to one
Surrender in the Queen's name gor you're a plundering son
Jack drew a pistol from belt swung it like a toy
I'll fight but never surrender cried the Wil Colonial Boy
He fired at trooper Kelly and Broyght him to the gornd
And in returm from Davis he received a mortal woynd
He lay all shattered through the jaw still firing at Fitzroy
And that's the way they captured him, the Wild Colonial Boy
