The infernal march

The Infernal March
From a cave, deep in the forest,
There come the echoes of many hooves on rock,
Thunderous, an army approaches.
From a cave, deep in the forest,
There come the echoes of many hooves on rock,
Thunderous, an army approaches.
The procession emerges,
The blue-black horses lead,
The master at their head,
Cloaked, his features hidden from sight,
His court follow,
Tall, dark figures that ride behind him
And after this order comes chaos,
The huge sprawling, gibbering host,
Insane in their lust to destroy,
But controlled by the mast
Lines upon lines of them,
Enter into the cool air,
And gawk at what they see,
So different!
The army proceeds,
And faint images appear,
Of things that struggle to follow,
But are held back, out of this world.
Soon the trees are gone from view,
Replaced by open plains,
The host go forth across the lands,
In their daemonic procession to find home.
