Eye for an eye

The wind roared beneath his wings as he blazed across the sky
His eyes fixed on the prize of revenge
Retribution as a means to their end

He found them scattered among dead trees
He silently swooped down, killing the guards unseen
Charging their ranks one by one
His talons ripped out their throats, his vengeance won

But as he watched the life fade from their eyes
He remembered his wife and child
Their deeds could never be reversed
So there he ended his life, no remorse
