My eternity

What is my destiny?
How long will I remain?
I am not the first.
I'm certain of that because
I came into being
And just like those before me
My time will end

My vision dims
My strength leaves me
What will be my eternity?
A voice within begins to speak
"Death's throne will never
Have a permanent occupant
There must be a renewal
So the cycle of life will continue."

On this all hallows' eve
I recount all my deeds
Soon I'll slip away
To whatever forever holds
