Of sons and daughters

A cherished blessing born,
A sweet baby boy or girl
This gilded youth, adorned with love
Rests easy in its bed
But guard this gift with a watchful eye

Through the midnight hour
For there will come a fiendish beast
Who will steal your darling away
It has produced a creature with dimples and curls
Much like your own
Yet this one would feed on the flesh and blood of those

Inside your home
With tiny hands and childlike giggles
It will carve out your heart
While your own small cherub is taken
And fed to the demons in the dark
