Was born in 1947
Down in Midway, Alabama
Off of Highway 83

With his Mom and Dad and sister
He lived there 'till he was seven
Then they moved to Tuscaloosa
When his dad was transferred

When he graduated high school

Where he had a partial scholarship
And a handful of friends

And nine semesters later
With a degree in engineering
Rufus moved to Mobile
Found a job, and took a wife

Rufus had three children
And a mortgage, and a Plymouth
They'd drive down to Pensacola
Every summer for a week

He still lives in Alabama
Where he's working for the county
He'll retire in a few years
